West Cumbria Carers
Delivery of one to one support for young carers in crisis or at high risk and support for a carers benefit clinic.

Delivery of one to one support for young carers in crisis or at high risk and support for a carers benefit clinic.
The sessions were delivered by Young Carers Support Workers and offered to those Young Carers identified as in crisis or at high risk, in particular those who have identified that their caring role impacts on their mental health, physical health, family relationships or causes financial and/or educational difficulties. Sessions provide a supportive environment in which to discuss concerns and develop strategies that reduce the negative impact of caring on a Young Carers life.
The Carers Benefit Clinics allowed carers to meet with Benefit Carers Support Worker and be assisted to identify and complete applications for appropriate unclaimed benefits.

The Carers Benefit Clinics aimed to help carers in the following ways:
- prevent financial hardship as a result of their caring role
- secure additional financial resources to enhance their capacity to deal with stressful or crisis situations
- contribute to the reduction of stress and anxiety
- feel supported and better recognised for the caring role they undertake
- optimise their access to health and social care
