Copeland Youth Development Fund

Broaden the horizons of young people, providing the vital spark to ignite their passions and practically develop their skills for real world success.

Skills

Delivered in ten settings through the seven youth providers who make up the Copeland Youth Network.

These are:

  • Shackles Off (Millom & Seascale),
  • Egremont Youth Partnership,
  • The Phoenix Youth Project (Frizington & Cleator Moor),
  • South Whitehaven Youth Partnership (Mirehouse & Woodhouse),
  • Whitehaven Harbour Youth Project,
  • Soundwave (Parton)
  • Distington Club for Young People.

The members work together, pool resources, share experiences and support one another. The aim is to improve employability skills and broaden cultural horizons through the completion of a specific project that they must identify, plan and deliver. This will also lead to external ASDAN accreditations to improve the qualification profile of young people involved.

It helps young people in their personal development measuring this on a skills development matrix, which focuses on communication & social skills; leadership development; critical thinking; problem-solving skills; presentation skills and personal coping skills.
